My friend bought the 2nd Transformers the other day so i borrowed it from him last night and i watched a bit of it. I'm planning on watching the whole thing today or tomorrow. Anyways I want to talk a little bit about this franchise. Personally I wasn't that big of a fan of the first movie. I thought it was kind of corny. There were some good parts during the movie. The action and visual effects in the movie were absolutely fantastic, but I didn't really like the shia Labeouf character. He acted like hes never talked to a girl in his life and he was suppose to be a senior in high school. It all was a little bit unbelievable for me.
Moving onto the 2nd movie, I liked this movie a lot more than the first one. It had double the action and even better special effects. My only gripe with this movie which I also had with the first one was how at times the transformers were hard to distinguish. Like it was hard to tell who was who. I don't think Michael Bay did enough to make each individual transformer to stand out from each other because they all looked too glossy. I guess this is a very small part of the movie, but action scenes got confusing at times. Back to the acting, the 2nd movie was far less corny and was actually believable. This movie was one of the most visually impressive movies I have ever scene so props to Michael Bay. What did you guys think of these two movies?

Rear Window vs. Disturbia
Today in class i got to watch another Alfred Hitchcock movie. This one was called Rear Window. I'm sure many of you haven't seen it because it came out in 1954, but I'm sure a lot of you have seen the movie Disturbia. Although the makers of Disturbia say that its not a remake of Rear Window, it is extremely similar. I liked Disturbia it wasn't too bad, but I liked Hitchcock's version much better. Hitchcock's version has a better storyline and better characters. I felt like the ending was a little more lackluster in comparison to Disturbia, but i think it was because of the time and the technology. This has been the second Hitchcock movie i have quite enjoyed. I think we have one more to watch in class, but I think I will try to see a few more of his movies on my own time because he really is a great director. Hopefully I can find one I really love. Well that's it for now, lata.

Movies and Shows
My friends went to see that new movie out Paranormal activity and they said it was really scary. They want to go see it again so i may go with them this weekend. I'm a little skeptical though because I'm not a big scary movie guy. I hope that this one is good and is actually scary for once. The rest of the time i feel like I'm just grossed out rather than scared. Hopefully this movie may change my opinions a little bit about the scary movie genre.
Next thing i want to talk about, is South Park. I love this show. It's not for everyone i realize, but i think they do a great job at keeping up with the times and making shows on controversial topics that are happening now. The 13th season has been great so far. Last nights episode was about wresting and the WWE. I used to watch this show a lot as a kid so it brought back some funny memories. They basically just made fun of how its all an act and that most of the time they aren't even wrestling they are talking instead. Keep it up South Park you guys are doing a great job. Well that's it for today, lata.

A collection of thoughts...
Let me start off by saying that this Friday I'm going to be appearing on the news on BTV 9. I went over to BTV today after class to shoot it. It was my first time being on camera since my TV production class I believe Sophomore year. I wasn't worried at all until I go in their and the producer said we were going to be on in 5. I felt my heart beating pretty fast for the first 5 minutes, but I eventually calmed down and I felt a bit better as it went on. Its funny how quickly you that fear of being on camera or on stage creeps up on you. I think if I do it a few more times it will get better and after a while it probably would seem like second nature. I applaud all those who go on camera frequently because they make it look so easy, but its a lot harder than on would think.
Secondly, i was looking at different sports news stations' websites today. I would love to get a job with ESPN, NESN, or Comcast Sportsnet and I'm defiantly going to start applying soon. Even if it's only an internship or a PA job. Experience is experience even if it don't pay great. Who knows maybe they would like you enough to hire you full time. Hopefully my dreams will come true some day. It's crazy that I'm looking for real jobs already. Does anyone else feel like we just got here and were ready to leave already? Man time fly's. Well that' it for today, lata.

Notorious
I watched my first Alfred Hitchcock movie today in my English class. We watched "Notorious" as you can see be the title of this post. I'm not really sure why this movie was named that because it doesn't really seem like the perfect title for this movie. Anyways, i had heard how good Hitchcock movies were but I never really seen one until now. I did like the movie a lot. Hitchcock was defiantly an excellent director. You can tell that he planned out each and every shot and that everything in each shot is meant to be there for a reason. I though he did a great job of story telling not only with story telling by the actors and actresses, but also with the camera. For those of you who haven't seen this movie its a spy thriller. The main character Mr. Devlin is actually a predecessor to another guy many of you may know, Mr. James Bond. I love the James Bond films and this one defiantly had some resemblances of the Bond films. The only thing that was missing were guns and some hand combat. I think if those two things were involved I would of liked the movie that much more. I'm sure a lot of the reasons why this movie was the way it was is because of the time period. It was made in 1946 and World War II had just ended. The movie could of had less restrictions if it were made 10 years later or so. Regardless it was a pretty good movie and defiantly kept me entertained throughout. I only wish the ending was a little different, the bad guy got it a little worse than he did.

Cold and Flu Season
So it appears that I have a cold. I'm pretty sure I got it from my girl friend so at least I know the culprit. Anyways, I'm not a very sickly person but when I do get sick i hate it. As I'm sure we all do. The topic of this blog discussion is really about H1N1. I thought it was kind of funny how big of a deal that the media has made of this new flu. As far as I'm concerned it isn't any worse than the regular old flu. The people that should be worrying about it are small children, the elderly, and people with bad immune systems. But those same people should also should worry about the regular flu. I don't get why there's such a hoopla over this type of flu. Is it because it has a fancy name? I don't know maybe I just don't know what I'm talking about. Anyhow, today I was at the bottom of Dinardo waiting for my friend to come downstairs and I started reading this poster. It was describing all these symptoms and inferring maybe you have the flu if you are experiencing them. Any you know what, it scared me a little bit. I thought about it for a minute and worried that maybe I had the flu. Hopefully it just turns out to be a cold as i first assumed, but who knows. I just thought it was funny because i had spent all this time bashing the flu and being like ehhh whatever and now all of a sudden I found myself a bit scared. What I am trying to get at is, I don't think i would have even thought about it really if it wasn't for all the publicity about this H1N1. The media really had an affect on me.

How much does the media control us?
Both this class and my comm 311 class books seeming to bashing the media a lot. They both have talked a lot about the media controlling our lives in the sense that they are choosing the stories that we here about. Not only are they choosing the stories that we hear about they are writing them as well. Even thought we don't realize how much the media really controls our lives its a large influence.
I mean I guess I kind of buy into what they are saying. A lot of it makes sense. But at the same time i'm sitting there thinking this is ridiculous. Are people in the media really sitting there all the time thinking of ways to influence us how they think. Is our media that biased and ridiculous? I have heard some pretty crazy stuff about Rupert Murdoch, which makes me think that a lot of this stuff may be true. What do you guys think? Do you think the media controls our lives? How much do you think it really controls how we think and act?

Singing in the Rain...
Let me first start off by saying that i hate musicals. I was forced to see "The Sound of Music" back in the fourth grade and i hated it. So, i went into my class yesterday and the teacher announces we will be watching the 1952 musical "Singing in the Rain". I was so thrilled with the idea of seeing this musical that i hit my forehead on the desk. So the movie starts with a music part and I already couldn't stand it. But about halfway through the movie I found myself actually quite entertained. It actually had quite a good storyline. All of the dancing and music scenes were actually pretty funny. They actually danced more than they sang maybe that was part of the reason I didn't mind it. As well as a good story, this movie actually did a great job at explaining the evolution of the movie studio. The movies they were shooting at the beggining of the movie were soundless unless music was added so all the actors and actresses really overly expressed everything in order for their points to get across to the audience. In the movie the head of Monumental Studios shows everyone that works for him about the new thing that is hitting the cinema, talkies. These talkies allowed audio to be recorded for the first time so that a movie would be more like a stage performance. At the time everyone in the movie business as this movie depicts thought this idea of talkies would blow over and not ever become anything. I thought this was really funny because as we all know today this is where all movies headed and never looked back. The movie also showed how the studio struggled with some of its first productions with this new technology because they had a hard time picking up the audio from the actors and actresses unless were talking directly into the big mics hidden throughout the set. It was also hard for the actors and actresses to get used to not over acting like they always used to because they now could be heard. The last thing that this movie really shed some light on to me was how the studio system pay worked. Everyone who worked to make movies was just on a salary for however many years. Sometimes they worked a lot and other times they were out of work, but either way they always got paid. Today this has been abolished and of course people are only paid when they are at work and actors and actresses are only paid when they are making a movie. So not only was this musical pretty funny and had a good story it really opened my eyes on the evolution of the movie studio. Well that's it for today, i'm out.

Saw VI
Has anyone seen the trailer for Saw VI? I seen it for the first time the other day and I was absolutely appalled. How are they still getting people to go see these movies? And another thing, the guy died in the 3rd movie how has he been in four and five and now six? The first two were pretty entertaining movies. They actually had a good story line. I myself stopped watching after the third one, It was so disturbing that I didn't want to watch another one. Now there's going to be a sixth one? Stop making the same movie over and over!
Scary movies these days are just terrible all they care about is making money. They are never in it for making a good movie. All the scares are usually cheap scares and or gruesome killings. What has happened to this genre? I remember when they made good scary movies that were actually scary and kept you on the edge of you seat. This genre is terrible these days, I wonder if the movies will ever get any better. Well that's it for today, I'm going to keep it short. Lata
